Where To Live

In and around South Bend's Central Business District are a wide variety of residential communities that provide homes and neighborhoods for individuals and families in any stage of life. Living in these neighborhoods, one can easily walk to the downtown area. While there are many smaller homes for couples, retirees and others needing less space, families will find large homes and yards not typically associated with "city" living. Just blocks from downtown are some of the region's most historic neighborhoods, filled with beautifully restored homes at one of the most affordable costs in the nation. There is a broad choice of housing types and neighborhoods accessible to any budget. There are also several apartment buildings, both old and new, right in and around the business district. In addition to the conveniences of living in and around the downtown, most South Bend neighborhoods have strong and active neighborhood associations providing for social needs and the all-important sense of community that is so essential to feeling your "house" is also a "home".
